Discussion on Geoengineering the Planet -
Follow Up Activity to "What if the Sun stopped shining?"
Human activity (engineering) is contributing to an overall warming of the planet, which is likely to lead to disruption of the climate system, with potentially dire consequences for the human population.
It has been proposed that additional engineering by humans can reverse it. The proposal is to seed the atmosphere with material that can reflect the sun’s energy back into space, rather than trap it as greenhouse gasses do.
The Los Alamos Youth Leadership Team will lead a discussion of the practicality of this proposal, as well as the ethical question: should we do it? Learn more...
