Café Scientifique Evaluations

Hands On Activity – Los Alamos UNM-LA
February 27, 2008

We asked you for feedback on how to improve the Cafe and this is what you told us. We have already made changes to implement many of the suggestions. Keep letting us know how we are doing.

Note:  Terry Wallace assisted Program Director, Michelle Hall, in presenting the information.  Students reviewed a 15-minute video, read handouts on specific climate issues, and discussed and debated the various positions presented.  Although, 39 teens attended the follow-up, 14 were the number of evaluations received.

  1. What was the best part of the program for youDiscussing – articles.  The thrill of scientific discovery.  Hands-on.  Inactive discussions.  The food and the music.  The food and the extra credit.  Learning of alternatives for climate control (2).  Really liked the video got a lot out of it.  Conversation in tables.  Video.  Group work. Informative movie.
  2. Please tell us one way we can improve the program?  Maybe make it long.  Better advertise for more people.  More advertising.  Make the articles a little more interesting.  Choose a better topic.  Shorter and if you have too much information, make more meetings.  You can’t really.  More interaction.  More advertisement.  It was good.
  3. Would you be able to attend Café meetings if they were on Friday?  Maybe.  Probably not, but it’s a possibility I suppose.  No at all!  Yes, sometimes.  No (4).  Yes, please!  Yes.  Yes, Thursdays are busy that’s why I leave early every time.  Nope (2).  Eh . . .  hope.
  4. Comments:  Thursday work great for me.  Manifique!  We need to keep people interest so they don’t leave.
