Café Scientifique is a youth directed program for other youths. Over 40 teens have been actively involved in planning the Spring 2008 Café events and more youth leaders are always welcome. More leaders means more fun and a lighter load for everyone. Contact us about being a leader.

Why be a Leader?

  • Help design a first of its kind program for teens
  • Ensure the program works for you and is fun!
  • Develop new skills
  • Make new friends in other towns
  • Lots of adult support will handle background work
  • Receive mentoring and training

Expectations of Leaders

  • Chair or co-chair a committee and recruit friends to help with the responsibilities
  • Work with adult leaders to plan and carry out tasks
  • Communicate regularly by email or phone
  • Attend training day with youth leaders from all four towns (Oct 13 or 14, 2007)

Committees

The Café program consists of two meetings (or sessions) per month. During the first session, a speaker introduces a topic for discussion with a 20-minute presentation. Refreshments and an open discussion for an hour follow the presentation. The second session follows up on the initial topic discussion with continued discussion or debate or some other related activity chosen by the youth leadership team.

Our committees are designed to divide the responsibilities of guiding the Café program so that many more teens can get involved in leading and participating in the program. There is a role for everyone.
